New England's First Modern Day Lesbian Bar — Right Here in Worcester

Femme Bar opened on March 10, 2023 at 62 Green Street in Worcester's Canal District, and within 60 days, guests from all 50 states had walked through our doors. Two nearby hotels sold out for our first two weekends. People drove hours to get here — because a space like this hadn't existed in New England in decades.

We're still here. And we're still that place.

Femme is a lesbian bar, a queer bar, a neighborhood bar, and a community home. We serve craft cocktails and mocktails, upscale bar food, and a weekly calendar of events that keeps people coming back — Outdoor block parties, drag brunch, drag bingo, dance parties with DJ’s, trivia, karaoke, speed dating, book club, movie club, live music, college night, clown night, leather parties, mixers, burlesque, women’s sports or lesbian themes on the tv’s and more. If you've been searching for a lesbian bar in Worcester, Massachusetts, or anywhere in New England — you found it.

What Makes Femme Different

Femme isn't a bar that added a rainbow flag to the window. We were built from the ground up as a space for LGBTQ+ women, nonbinary folks, and the entire queer community. Owned by Danielle Spring and Julie Toupin — a married couple who opened Femme in honor of Danielle's sister, Julie’s best friend — this bar exists because our community needed it.

The location at 62 Green Street is personal. It's where Danielle and Julie had their wedding after-party, and where they held services for Danielle's sister. When Julie coined the name "Femme Bar" in September 2022, they knew exactly what they were building: a home.

That founding story shows up in everything we do. The bartenders know your name. The events are built around community, not just sales. And the energy in this room — whether it's a packed Saturday night or a vibey Tuesday — feels like somewhere you belong.

Events Every Week

Femme hosts over 200 events per year. Here's what a typical month looks like:

Drag Brunch — Our legendary weekend drag brunches are standing-room-only. Brunch buffet, bottomless mimosas, and Worcester's best drag performers. Tickets sell fast.

Trivia Night — Test your knowledge, win prizes, argue about answers. Monthly.

Karaoke — Sing your heart out. Judgment-free zone. Mostly. Every Thursday from 9pm to close.

Speed Dating — Meet someone. For real. Our queer speed dating nights are wildly popular.

Book Club — Read something great, talk about it over cocktails, mocktails, and food. Low-key and wonderful.

Live Music & DJ Nights — Showcasing Local artists, dance parties, and the kind of Friday and Saturday night energy that keeps you out way past your bedtime.

Drag Bingo, Burlesque, Leather Night, 50+ Mixer, Moms Group, Craft Night, Movie Club, Tarot Readings, College Night — and more. Check our events calendar for what's coming up.

We also host signature annual events including our Pride Block Party, New Year's Eve formal queer dinner, and Halloween Block Party.

The Lesbian Bar Worcester Has Been Waiting For

Worcester is the second-largest city in New England and one of the most diverse. It deserves a queer nightlife scene that reflects that. Femme Bar is part of a small but growing number of lesbian bars in the country — there are fewer than 30 left nationwide — and we're proud to be the first modern day lesbian bar in all of New England.

We've been recognized with Worcester's Best awards, a Safe Homes Award, and inclusion on the Women to Watch list. But what matters most to us is the person walking in for the first time who finally feels like they found their spot.

If you're LGBTQ+ and visiting Worcester — or you live here and haven't been yet — this is your invitation. Planning a celebration? Check out our drag brunch or book a bachelorette party at Femme.
